About the Chocolate Muscovy

Chocolate is a sex-linked recessive brown: a warm milk-chocolate plumage that bleaches to a lighter brown under strong sun. Because the gene is sex-linked, a chocolate or chocolate-carrying drake over a non-chocolate female throws only chocolate daughters, making it useful for auto-sexing crosses. Ducklings hatch rusty-brown. Beneath the colour it is the same quiet, broody, lean meat duck.
