About the Blue Rouen
The Blue Rouen is the standard wild (mallard) pattern carried over a single blue dilution gene (Bl/bl+), so the drake's normally black-grey body tones and the hen's brown shade off to a smoky slate-blue. It is one of the colours standardised by the British Waterfowl Association alongside the grey and the double-dilute Apricot, but remains far scarcer than the classic grey. Body type, size and docile table-duck temperament are unchanged from the breed baseline.
