About the Mallard Rouen
The original and most familiar Rouen colour, the Mallard (grey) variety mirrors the wild Mallard but on a far heavier frame. The drake carries a bottle-green head, white collar, claret bib and grey body; the hen is a uniform mahogany brown with dark pencilling on each feather and tan eye-stripes. As the breed standard's baseline colour, it is the form most often kept for the table and the show pen.
