About the Gold Welsh Harlequin
The Gold is the original phase, the form that arose from Bonnet's 1949 Khaki Campbell mutation and that remains prevalent in the UK; it was admitted to the British Waterfowl Standards in 1991. Compared with the Silver, its plumage carries softer, warmer colours and no black pigment, and its speculum is bronze rather than iridescent blue, giving an overall lower-contrast, frosted appearance. Shares the same body: light, active, a heavy layer of white eggs, and famously bill-sexable as day-olds.
