About the Blonde Emu
Blonde Emus are a leucistic colour morph carrying a single copy of the lightening gene (heterozygous), which pales the standard grey-brown to a fawn or sandy tone often broken by patterns such as barred, lavender, harlequin or salt-and-pepper feathering. Pairing a blonde with a standard grey typically yields a mix of blonde and grey chicks. It is a rare, collector-prized colour rather than a separate breed, keeping the Emu's hardy ratite build and deep-green eggs.
