About the Brown African Goose
The original and oldest-recognised African, the Brown (also called Grey or Coloured) carries plumage of mixed browns, buffs, greys and white, with a dark brown stripe running over the crown and down the back of the neck and a satin-black bill and knob. It was the first African admitted to the APA Standard of Perfection in 1874. A towering heavyweight prized for meat, crowned by a forehead knob that takes several years to mature and a swinging dewlap beneath the chin.
