About the Brecon Buff
The Brecon Buff's only colour is an even, warm buff, the main body feathers fringed with near-white in the same way as the Toulouse, both deriving from common Greylag stock. Uniquely among buff geese, its bill, legs and feet are pink rather than orange, the key trait separating it from the larger American Buff; without selection for the pink bill the orange beak reasserts and the bird is no longer a true Brecon. Standardised in British Poultry Standards in 1954, it is one of only four standardised native British goose breeds and an RBST priority rarity.
