About the Brown Chinese Goose

The original colour of the breed: rich brown and fawn plumage marked by a dark russet-brown stripe running down the back of the swan-like neck. The bill and the prominent forehead knob are glossy black, set off by a narrow band of creamy-white feathers where they meet the head; eyes are brown and the feet brownish-orange. Like all Chinese geese this is a tall, elegant, swan-goose-descended bird — the best layer of all geese and a vigilant 'watchdog'. Admitted to the APA Standard in 1874.
