About the White Franconian Goose
The snow-white form is the colour most associated with the Franconian (Frankische Landgans) in its Bavarian homeland, where the farmyard birds were historically mostly pure white, with grey-and-white pied or blue examples scarcer. Note that in the German standard it is the blue colour, not white, that is the formally recognised variety (recognised 2008), so white birds trade on heritage rather than show status. As with all Franconians it is a small, hardy, thrifty light goose with distinctive pale blue eyes and a reputation as an easy breeder and good rearer of fast-growing goslings.
