About the Blue Steinbacher
The blue is the Steinbacher's signature and the only variety recognised by the American Poultry Association. Unusually for a blue breed, it comes true: pure homozygous birds show a soft, even pale lavender-blue, while heterozygous birds run to a darker blue, so blue x blue reliably yields blue offspring rather than the blue/black/splash split seen in most poultry. The pale plumage sets off the breed's hallmark orange bill outlined in black.
