About the Chestnut With Grey Breast Band Bamboo Partridge

The classic wild-type plumage of the Chinese Bamboo Partridge: a soft blue-grey collar curving across the upper breast like a semicircular band, set against rich chestnut underparts that fade to buff towards the rear, with black, chestnut and cream mottling over the back and bold dark spotting on the flanks. The face and throat carry warm fulvous-rufous tones beneath the grey supercilium. This is the natural, centuries-cultivated colour of the species rather than a selectively bred variety — a plump, characterful and notably pugnacious ornamental gamebird best given its own space.
