About the Grey With Chestnut Neck Collar With White Flecks Barbary Partridge
This is the Barbary Partridge's sole, natural wild-type plumage: a rotund grey-brown bird with a pale grey breast, buff belly and light grey face, set off by the species' signature broad reddish-chestnut neck collar (gorget) liberally flecked with white spots. The rufous-streaked white flanks and bright red legs and bill complete the look, while the chestnut, white-spotted band is exactly what separates it from the closely related red-legged partridge, which has a black-bordered throat instead. A smart, ground-loving game bird of North Africa.
