About the Grey-Brown With Bold Black Flank Bars Red-legged Partridge

This is the species' single natural plumage: a greyish body and pinkish-buff belly set off by boldly barred flanks, where each bar carries rufous and a sharp black leading edge over a pale ground, giving the strong banded effect down the lower sides. A clean white throat patch ringed with a black gorget, a bright red bill and red legs complete the smart, rotund 'Frenchman' look familiar on British shoots.
