About the Dark Blue With Bronze Congo Peafowl
The cock's plumage is deep blue washed with metallic green and violet iridescence, set off by bronze-green upperparts and wing coverts, a blackish underside, and bare red neck skin. Unlike Asian peafowl, the short black tail of fourteen feathers lacks an ocellated train, and the forecrown carries an upright tuft of white bristle-like feathers. This is the natural wild-type colouring of Africa's only true peafowl, a Near Threatened species kept almost entirely in zoos and conservation breeding programmes.
