About the Black-Shouldered Indian Peafowl
A pattern mutation that turns the cock's normally barred wing coverts solid black-blue, giving the dark, glossy 'black shoulder' that names it, while the train and neck stay typical of the colour beneath. Hens are strikingly different from wild-type: creamy white flecked with colour rather than grey-brown. It is the oldest peafowl pattern mutation and can be layered onto any base colour.
