About the Purple Indian Peafowl
Isolated in 1987 in Arizona from black-shoulder stock, Purple shifts the iridescence from blue toward purple: the train is darker than India Blue, with green-and-purple eyespots. It is a sex-linked colour, always expressed in hens and carriable by cocks, and is the parent stock behind several later mutations such as Peach.
