Violeta (often "Sonja's Violeta") is a recognised sex-linked colour mutation of the Indian Peafowl, listed by the United Peafowl Association. It washes the wild-type blue-green plumage in a deep, dusky violet-purple: cocks show an intensely dark, African-violet neck and a train whose eyespots read purple, black and beetle-green, while hens carry a blue-violet neck over a brownish back. The familiar fanned, eyespotted train and stately ground-foraging habit are unchanged from the standard India Blue — only the colour shifts. It remains a rare, breeder-documented mutation.
