About the Manchurian Cross Common Pheasant
The Manchurian Cross pairs a pure Manchurian pheasant (imported to the West in 1989) with a Chinese ringneck, carrying a notably large white neck band plus a distinguishing white feather near the ear coverts. It is prized on shoots for hardiness, coping with high ground and northern conditions better than lighter strains. Otherwise it shows the classic coppery-bronze and green-purple of the common pheasant.
