About the Scottish Common Pheasant
Not a distinct plumage colour but a regional game-farm strain of the ring-necked Common Pheasant, bred in Scotland for sport. Scottish 'bloodstock' birds carry the classic ring-neck's coppery-bronze body and iridescent green-purple head with a white neck ring, but are selected from local wild bloodlines for hardiness, disease immunity, strong high flying, and hens able to rear young in the wild. Robust, well-feathered birds reared for driven shoots across Scotland and northern England.
