About the Dark Throated Golden Pheasant
The Dark Throated mutation darkens the bird markedly: chicks hatch a very dark brown with only minimal cream on the throat, and hens stay a deep chocolate brown while keeping the yellow beak, legs and skin of the Red Golden. It is one of the base captive mutations of the Golden Pheasant, and combines with others to produce the darker derived forms such as mahogany and salmon.
