About the Ghigi Yellow Golden Golden Pheasant
The Ghigi Yellow Golden is the named lineage of the yellow mutation, traced to a single mutant yellow male given to Professor Alessandro Ghigi of Bologna in 1952; by 1955-56 he had it breeding true. Ghigi maintained to his death that it was a pure mutation of the Red Golden and never a Lady Amherst cross, and it remains the Golden mutation whose purity is least disputed. The cock is clear yellow with a near-white tail.
