About the Chestnut With White Bars Hume's Pheasant
This is the natural wild-type plumage of the cock Hume's Pheasant: a deep chestnut-brown body broken by bold white wing-bars and white scapular barring, set off by a metallic steely-blue neck and inner wing-coverts, bare red facial skin and a long, finely barred grey-brown and black tail. As an ornamental aviary species kept largely for conservation, no domesticated colour mutations exist, so this barred-chestnut form is simply how the bird appears in the wild and in collections.
