About the Oates'S Kalij Pheasant

Oates' Kalij (L. l. oatesi), of southern Myanmar, is an eastern-group subspecies sharing Crawfurd's reversed pattern: a glossy blue-black crest and underparts contrasting with white to pale-grey upperparts and tail finely vermiculated with black. It keeps the breed's bare red facial skin. A tough, adaptable bird, it is among the more manageable ornamental pheasants to start with.
