About the White Crested Kalij Pheasant

The White-crested Kalij (L. l. hamiltoni) of the western Himalayas is defined by its pale white crest set against a glossy blue-black body — the only Kalij subspecies not to have a blue-black crest. It shows the usual whitish rump and the breed's bare red facial skin. Hardy and adaptable like the species as a whole, it is among the more straightforward ornamental pheasants to keep.
