About the White, Black, Red And Yellow Lady Amherst's Pheasant
The classic wild-type male: a crisp black-and-white nuchal cape and short red crest above pure-white underparts, a scaled green throat and dark-green back, with a vivid yellow rump and the diagnostic yellow eye in blue-green bare skin. The very long tail is greyish-white barred black with red streaks at the base — together the white, black, red and yellow give this species its 'living jewel' look. Hardy and graceful, though it hybridises freely with the Golden Pheasant where the two overlap.
