About the Chestnut, Gold And White Reeves's Pheasant
This is the wild-type cock plumage that defines the species: a golden-white and chestnut body where each feather is edged in black to give a crisp scaled effect, a white head crossed by a narrow black eye-band, and bare red facial skin. Crowning it is the famous silvery-white tail boldly barred with chestnut-brown — the longest tail feather of any bird, reaching up to 2.4 m. A hardy, characterful Chinese ornamental pheasant, now classed as Vulnerable in the wild.
