About the Yellow Golden Pheasant
The classic Yellow Golden (or "Ghigi" Golden, named for Prof. A. Ghigi who fixed it in the mid-20th century) is a colour mutation of the Red Golden in which the cock's fiery scarlet is replaced by soft yellow: a yellow crest, an orange-and-black tipped ruff, yellow lower back and chest, with a largely white, faintly grey-brown barred tail. It keeps the green mantle and the tame, hardy nature of the red parent. As the yellow pigment fades in strong sun, shade keeps the colour at its best.
