About the Red Carneau
The Red Carneau is the breed's signature colour, a rich deep red-chestnut that runs right through the plumage including the feather shafts; the American Carneau Association standard prizes the deepest underplumage colour. Genetically a recessive red, it is the most traditional and widely kept form of this large French-Belgian utility pigeon, calm and substantial and bred above all for meaty squab.
