About the Black English Trumpeter

A self (solid) variety carrying an even, dense black throughout the plumage, including the enormous foot muffs and the rose and shell crests that frame the face. The dark ground makes the breed's frilled, feather-buried outline read sharply on the show bench. Purely an exhibition bird, named like all Trumpeters for its drawn-out trumpeting coo.
