About the Almond Fantail
The Almond Fantail is a mottled, sex-linked pattern rather than a flat colour: a rich golden-buff ground (named for the colour inside an almond shell) broken by rich black flecking dispersed through the plumage, with flights and tail showing irregular patches of ground colour, white and black. The standard pairs it with the breed's usual upright fan. Its three-toned, ever-varying markings make it one of the most prized and demanding Fantail colours to breed true.
