About the Black Fantail
The Black Fantail should be jet black throughout, free from rustiness or a checkered look, and carry a rich beetle-green lustre over the neck and shield. The standard pairs it with pearl or orange eyes (pearl preferred), dark ceres and a black beak and toenails. The deep, glossy ground makes the breed's signature upright fan especially striking on exhibition.
