About the Indian Fantail
The Indian Fantail is a distinct, larger form of the breed: heavier and more upright than the English/American Fantail, and uniquely carrying a peak crest and feathered (muffed) feet that the clean-legged English bird lacks. Developed in India and described at Akbar's court in 1590, it is most commonly white (often with light tan flecking), with black, almond, bronze, grizzle and yellow also bred. Its robust build and natural stance make it a popular, hardy ornamental fantail.
