About the Saddle Fantail
The Saddle is a pied marking pattern rather than a single colour: the body is white except for an evenly coloured shield (and a preferred white back cushion), with the ten outer primary flights white and the rest of the wing coloured. It is recognised in all the standard Fantail colours, so a "saddle" may be black, blue, red and so on over white. The crisp two-tone contrast accentuates the breed's broad erect fan on the show bench.
