About the Red Frillback

A red Frillback, carrying the warm recessive-red plumage that is one of the breed's recognised self colours, ideally a strong, even fiery red across the tightly curled wing shield and foot muffs. Red also appears as a grizzle (red flecked with white) and in shield-marked forms, but the rich self red shows the curl ringlets boldly. Colour scores a modest share of points; curl, at fifty of a hundred, decides the bird.
