About the Various Highflyer
Highflyers are bred and judged on flying performance rather than a fixed colour standard, so birds turn up in a wide spread of plumage — white, black, red, yellow and assorted combinations — with selection driven by body structure, breast bone and wing feathering rather than markings. Whatever the colour, these are athletic endurance pigeons of the Indian subcontinent, flown to great heights for marathon stints of fifteen-plus hours even in fierce summer heat.
