About the Blanco Bobwhite Quail
Blanco ('white') is the pure-white colour phase of the Northern Bobwhite: birds are uniformly white, lacking the wild-type rufous, grey and black markings, so the male's usual bold white throat-and-brow stripe is no longer set off against dark plumage. It is a captive-bred colour mutation rather than a wild form, kept in aviculture for its clean white appearance, and is distinct from the dark-flecked 'Snowflake' phase. A non-standardised colour variant of this American game-bird species.
