About the Mexican Speckled Bobwhite Quail
A naturally speckled phase derived from the Mexican bobwhite stock: the cock has a black head with a white eye-stripe and throat patch, the hen a buff head, and both share a light buff-orange body finely flecked with dark markings, giving a gold-toned, speckled appearance. It is the parent stock from which the white Snowflake mutation arose, and is kept as an attractive ornamental form of this sociable North American game quail.
