About the Blue Faced Button Quail
Blue Face is the Extended Brown mutation (an incomplete-dominant melanic gene sharing the p.Glu92Lys MC1R change with Japanese quail's Extended Brown), which strips the wild bib and turns the bird largely brown-black with orange feet; double-factor birds are entirely dark. The name comes from the blue-grey cast over the cock's face. It is a well-established mutation on the same small, easy King Quail.
