About the Pied Button Quail
Pied describes random patches of white breaking up the bird's base colour, an expression of the same white gene that, in more structured form, produces tuxedo and, in heavier form, splash. The base colour shows through between the white patches, so each bird is individually marked. It is a pattern rather than a colour, appearing over any base on the small, gentle King Quail.
