About the Black Japanese Quail

A dark-plumaged Japanese quail bred from four colour mutations working together: Extended Brown (Tibetan), which darkens the plumage; Fawn (Golden Manchurian), which changes how the colour shows; Myrle, a colour-pattern mutation; and Fee, a dilution that lightens the brown in the feathers. Together they give striking deep black and chocolate-toned birds, with some variation in shade and markings. The darkest birds carry all four mutations in homozygous form.
