About the Dilute Japanese Quail
Dilute is a sex-linked recessive (al^D) that broadly reduces pigment across the bird — the down hatches pale, the adult plumage is lightened and the shanks are clear of colour. Unlike the autosomal silver and fawn dilutions it follows sex-linked inheritance, so expression differs between cocks and hens. A normal productive Coturnix underneath.
