About the Italian Japanese Quail
Italian is the heterozygous fawn (single roux-dilute) colour — a golden-straw body marked with neat black 'V' shapes on each feather and a clean pale face, much brighter than wild Pharaoh. The fawn gene is autosomal and incompletely dominant, so two Italians produce a mix of Italian, Manchurian and Pharaoh chicks. Productive and quick-maturing like all Coturnix.
