12 speckled eggs from a flock of mixed colour Coturnix quail. Some of the colours in my flock include whites, blacks, Tibetan, tuxedo, roux, pharaoh, Italian, pansy, sparkly and various fee colourings. My breeding flock are unrelated therefore no inbreeding will occur. My flock are kept in spacious aviaries with plenty of plants and different substrates to allow the quail to exercise their natural behaviours. They have 24/7 access to feed and water, with greens given daily. I am hatching my own eggs every 2 weeks with great results! I do this to ensure fertility. About the Pharaoh Jumbo Coturnix
Pharaoh is the wild-type, foundational colour of the Coturnix quail — an intricately speckled mix of brown, tan and cream that mimics a small partridge and provides natural camouflage. It is the base genotype from which every other Coturnix colour derives, and it is reliably feather-sexable from around three weeks: cocks show a rich rust-copper, largely unspotted breast while hens carry a paler cream breast with distinct black speckling. In this Jumbo strain that classic wild plumage is paired with the meatier, fast-maturing, heavy-laying frame the Jumbo is bred for.
