About the Bronze Turkey

The Bronze takes its name from the iridescent coppery sheen of its dark-brown body feathers, each tipped with a fine black band; toms deepen this into glints of red, purple, green, copper and gold, while the tail carries a wide bronze band edged in narrow black and white. The pattern closely echoes the wild American turkey it descends from. The true Standard (heritage) Bronze, distinct from the commercial Broad-Breasted, is slow-growing, mates and rears naturally, and is a flavoursome rare breed on the Livestock Conservancy's Watch list.
