Japanese quail mixed genes - silver, fawn, pearl fee, blue, pansy, roux
Mixed Japanese Quail (Lucky Dip) · quail · speckled cream eggs
About these quail eggs for hatching
The male is cream coloured from the Schofield silver collection. From the chicks he has produced so far I can tell he has one fawn, one or two roux and one silver gene.
My hens came from different breeders. The hens are: Italian, pearl fee and blau pansy.
So far the chicks that have hatched include: Egyptian, silver Egyptian, Italian, silver Italian, various shades of cream / gold / ginger / blau / blau fee /blau fee with leakage (cream with black wing tips), pearl fee (silver pearl fee should also be possible), I think tuxedo should be possible but not seen any yet. The odd wild type may appear, but there's so many colour and pattern genes from the parents that it seems rare that none that are visible are inherited.
The world's domesticated quail, the Japanese (Coturnix) quail is a small, speckled brown bird and an egg-laying marvel — top strains lay around 300 dainty, mottled eggs a year, maturing in just six weeks. More about the Japanese Quail

The breeder
Havant Hatchlings
I keep Japanese quail. My male is from the Schofield silver collection and is cream coloured. He has silver, roux and fawn genes that I know of. Not all of the chicks he has produced are silver, meaning he only has one silver gene. My females are from a different breeder to the male and are unrelated to the male and to each other. The females are: blue pansy, pearl fee and Italian. Over winter eggs will be from a mixture of the hens. In summer 2027 I'm hoping to have enough adult females to be able to offer eggs from specific colours/patterns of hens.
